Singapore —On February 18, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong revealed a comprehensive set of support initiatives for businesses and households in the national budget for 2025.
The proposed measures include a 50% rebate on corporate income tax for the year 2025. Furthermore, qualifying businesses will be eligible for a cash grant of 2,000 SGD (approximately 1,500 USD), even if they do not report any profits, as long as they were operational and had at least one local employee in 2024.

These payments are set to be automatically distributed starting in the second quarter of 2025.
To assist residents in managing increasing living expenses, every household in Singapore will receive 800 SGD (around 600 USD) in Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers. This initiative is projected to cost the government approximately 1.06 billion SGD for the current fiscal year.
The budget also emphasizes significant investments in infrastructure, including a substantial allocation of 5 billion SGD (3.72 billion USD) to the Changi Airport Development Fund, which aims to expand capacity by over 50% to maintain Singapore’s position as a crucial global hub for travel and trade.

Notably, the government will assess the viability of nuclear energy and implement systematic measures to enhance capabilities within that sector.
Wong highlighted the necessity for cleaner energy alternatives to address the rising demand and lower carbon emissions.
